But the truth is, I wasn't getting the quality of critiques I needed for my writing, and I felt nervous posting anything truly important on such a large forum, rules or no. Not that I don't like hearing praise for my fun pieces. I love having my ego swelled. But for me to devote enough time to this place to get noticed and have people drop by, it just isn't worth it.
That said, I do enjoy poking my nose in here every now and then, and have been sketching a bit more of late, so I'm going to keep this account and gallery, and continue to drop in from time to time. But not enough to make or keep any promises in terms of critiques, like the ones listed in my previous entry.
If, for some odd reason, you have stumbled across my page and have read some of my writing, and want to know my opinion of one of your pieces, please send me a note and I will try, when I next log in, to critique it for you. If I have time.
University keeps a body busy, especially with three labs per semester, and five lectures. And all the clubs I keep joining, despite the fact that I have no time. And all the writing I want to do.
So, after nearly two years, I am still sort of hovering and dropping in every now and then to admire your art, literary or visual, but I never have more time than to glance at a few pieces, and comment if something really catches my eye. I really do appreciate anyone who visits and leaves me a note, but time, time, time...
Who wants to join my club for people with no time for clubs? When we finally have our first meeting, the primary item on the agenda is our plan for slowing the earth's rotation and orbit so we can have 36-hour days.

Critics will grumble. Of course they will. That's one of the functions of critics. As an artist it's your job to give them ulcers, and perhaps even something to get apoplectic about. -- Neil Gaiman

"Are we awake?"~"We are not sure. Are we Black?"~"Yes we are."~"Well we are awake but we are-very-puzzled."
hope you get something out of it.
Absolutely agree with your journal - being part of an online community is a good thing, but no surrogate for getting out and enjoying life face to face...
so you'll understand when I say that I've not got time to read your work at present, but I'll get to it just as soon as real life calms down a bit (moving countries (again) does that to you)
